Teaching
Carol is a flute teacher with over 25 years of experience working with young beginners through high school students and adults.
Her aim is to help students address technical, rhythmic, tone, and vibrato challenges. Repertoire is drawn from a variety of musical traditions centered around classical, modern, Baroque, and Irish styles. In addition to the modern flute, she also instructs piccolo, baroque flute, 19th century keyed flute, and beginning recorder.
Weekly lessons are taught at her home studio, where she provides piano accompaniment. All students are encouraged to perform in Spring and Fall studio recitals.
As a flute teacher, Carol strives to:
- provide a firm technical foundation for artistic expression
- give students the tools for musical self-expression
- supplement and enrich the school band experience
Carol's students have been placed in honor bands, won competitions, and even gone on to major in music. Some of her students continue to play as adults in community orchestras and ensembles.
Performance
Carol enjoys bringing live flute music to audiences in a variety of settings.
Besides playing with the Broomfield Symphony Orchestra, she also enjoys creating memorable musical moments at weddings, receptions, and other events.
